PrimeGame.info
September 21st, 2007For those of you that might know, and those that might not, the URL http://www.PrimeGame.info is the URL for the game project. Its been updated with 2 interesting words.
Also the URL has no meaning for the official game, the URL was registered back in the days when the game was called Prime: The Commonwealth Saga.
Also a sad day for Science Fiction, beloved Robert Jordan passed away on Sunday with a rare cancer. RIP Robert.

The Week Ahead & The Week Behind #2
September 9th, 2007Well, its more like The Month behind, but still we progress on.
What’s been going on at Nigredo?
First our AI tree is about to get a hole lot smarter with the help of Philip Quin, a Batchelor at UNSW’s Faculty of Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, where he received honours for his work on AI with Experimental Robotics. In other words, this guy knows his stuff!
After we do some small level touch ups we will have a small teaser for you guys!
Also don’t forget we still have our game name competition running - and will do so for a while yet.

The Week Ahead & The Week Behind #1
August 1st, 2007This is the first post in our Community W.A.W.B. (The Week Ahead & The Week Behind) where we will be talking about what’s going on here at Nigredo.
———
Last week we started work on one of our key game play features, the commander mode. Many of you may know about commander modes, and what they do for game play online, yet a single player game is yet to implempent such a feature, and this is where we step in.
We are now ironing out some of errors in the code with help from Michael at Micis, and will hopeful be able to show some screen shots in the next update.
Some of the items we have added to commander mode include:
* FMV panes, allowing the player to be guided in traning, and on field missions by there superiors
* Ability to script drops, and deployments based on a BRT timer. This is the most interesting and useful addition to any commander mode yet!
You are in a battle zone with our Black Turtle AI (I’ll write something about this soon), where your opponents can pick up and use anything you drop including ammo, and tripods. You are given the chance to deploy 1 ammo crate in your mission, but you don’t want your opponents to pick them up as soon as they find them, so you set a way point as commander, and apply a BRT Timer to it. Once the timer hits 0, a Temporary wormhole will open from central command, and deploy your ammo supply to your way point, ready for you to pick up.
The volunteer community has also been busy with one brand new model mesh completed yesterday by Kevin McKee. The mesh has been sent onto Asbed to be skinned, and animated, and should be completed by our next update. This bot is planed to be used to show advertisement’s from real world clients, and our own in game advertising campaign.

We have also been busy applying skins to our communication devices, as you can see, we now have a skin for word press, and are doing some minor modification’s to the ‘Half-Life’ SMF Skin to suit our needs.
Until next time, take care, and please by all means sign up on the forums, and get involved in the community!

Some more news
July 12th, 2007In case you don’t visit Marks site & forums (I highly recommend you do), you may not have seen a recent post we made regarding Nigredo & Hamiltons Stance.
We would love to keep as much of the feeling as we originally planed to, but alas, we are no longer developing the title (and its also under name change) based on his works.
We both feal this gives us the freedom to develop our own story, with out having to consult each other at every major plot twist.
I however do hope that Mark, and his small community still support us (I point at those that are registered on the unisphere forums), while we will support you by developing a game that everyone will like.
Not to fear how ever, we are in talks with some of the best space opera authors that have experience with game script writing to bring our game into the lime light. You might not see Al Gore, but you will fell the essence of a commonwealth like universe, although new and refreshed.
If you want to see this game sooner, I recommend you email who ever you can at Codemasters & Strategy First and tell them you want to see our game!
Give us a name!
July 9th, 2007Codename ‘Prime’, the titile we have been developoing here at Nigredo for the past year is looking for community sudjestions for the retail name. All you need to do is nominate a name by joining our brand new forums, and making a post in this thread: http://www.nigredostudios.com/forum/index.php?topic=2.0
The Top 5 winners will receive something special closer to release date.

Nigredo Studios parts ways with Team NightFall
July 9th, 2007Nigredo Studios, a Sydney-based developer, and Team NightFall have today decided to part ways. Nigredo Studios have relinquished full rights to NightFall, an episodic Half Life 2 mod, to Team NightFall. Former associates, Nigredo Studios and Team NightFall decided that the split was the best move for both teams in order for them to focus on the quality that has come to be expected of them.
Team NightFall, a production team formerly working under Nigredo Studios, has been working on developing their unique take on Half Life 2’s mythology. Following the path of John Dalton, NightFall showcases high quality work on the Source Engine.
Nigredo Studios is currently developing a First Person Real Time Role Playing Game penned by one of Science Fictions best Space Opera authors, where players assume the tole of Nithøk Godskinsson.
Both teams wish each other the best of luck in their future endeavors.
